May Is Here...

“It's spring fever.... You don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”
-  Mark Twain

It is hard to believe we will be turning the calendar to May this week.  The month of April certainly flew by for me.  It is certainly a busy time of year for us all.  The teachers strive to keep the students focused on new learning, as the weather turns warmer and the sun shines each day.  There is a lot left to learn and we will stay the course until June 7th.

As a school, we are finishing the 2013-13 school year and starting to look ahead to the 2013-14 school year.  One of the things we start to do is look at class placement for students for next year.  If you know your student(s) will not be returning to Eagle Ridge Academy next year at this point, please let us know.  Also, you will be receiving a parent input form for student placement this week.  This is a way for you to share information about your student(s) that you feel might be relevant when making class lists.  Please note that specific teacher requests are not taken on this form.  The form needs to be returned to school by Friday, May 10th

First graders have been working on measurement.  They created measurement people to help them remember how many quarts are in a gallon, pints are in a quart, etc.  They are hanging around the 1st grade classrooms.  Check out a few of them below.

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Mills class did some animal reports.  They gathered information about ants and wrote about some key areas (what they eat, what they look like, and where they live).  It took a while, but they put it all together and the reports are hanging outside her classroom.
