“Laughter is an instant vacation.” Milton Berle
We have arrived at that magical day for students…the last
day of school prior to winter break! The
teachers have done a remarkable job keeping the students engaged and focused on
learning this week. I hope you and your
family enjoy the time together. Please
encourage your children to continue to read over the next two weeks. While it is important to take some time and
relax, I encourage you to keep some aspects the same. It is always extra difficult for students to
return to school from such a long vacation, if nothing in their daily routine
remains constant. We look forward to
having the students come back in January refreshed and ready to tackle
(essentially) the second half of the school year.
The 5th grade students have been studying the
periodic table in science. As the
culminating project from their study, they created gave reports on a particular
element. Some students created PowerPoint
presentations while others made posters of their elements. Those element posters are hanging in the 5th
grade hallway. Here are pictures of a
few of them.
Kindergarten students have been talking about past, present,
and future. They did an activity where
they noted what they were in the past, present, and what they wanted to be in
the future. I remember wanting to be a
teacher when I was 5 years old. I wonder
how many of these future predictions will come true.
Eagle Ridge Academy is participating in the Scripps National
Spelling Bee this year. So far, students
in grades 4-8 have taken their written tests.
The top four scores from each grade level will advance to the Eagle
Ridge Academy school spelling bee on at 4:00 on January 9th in the
Academy Commons. Our school winner will take an online test to qualify for the
regional spelling bee. Mrs. Pettinger (4th
grade) is spearheading our participation.
If you have any questions, please contact her at kpettinger@eagleridgeacademy.org.
