"The beginning is the most important part of the work." ~Plato
Welcome to the 2013-14 school year! The first week of school has gone by in a flash. The students came in ready to go! I hope you have been able to come into the Lower School at some point to see all of the physical changes with the building. We are very happy with our larger hallways, improved classrooms, and other improvements. Our dedication to our mission and pillars is evident in the hallway street signs and other wall decorations. The newly developed Lower School Pillar Program will allow us to teach and acknowledge the Pillars, as we work to educate the whole child at Eagle Ridge Academy.

The new playground was a busy place this week during Lower
School recesses. The adding of the
playground was certainly a highlight during construction this summer. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who came
out to help us during the community build.
As you can see from the pictures below, the hard work was well worth it as the
students are following the playground motto of “study hard, play hard.”
Parents are invited to attend Curriculum Nights on September
12th. Teachers will be
presenting information about the classroom, curriculum, Pillar Program,
etc. Kindergarten, First Grade, and
Second Grade teachers will present from 6:00-7:00pm. Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade teachers will
present from 7:30-8:30. Specialist
Teachers (art, Latin, music, and physical education) will be available to
answer questions in their classrooms from 5:30-7:30. All presentations will be in the teacher
classrooms. Please note, this is an
adults only event. There will not be any
childcare available on this evening.
**Due to scheduling conflicts, Mrs. Palm’s Kindergarten
Curriculum Night and Mrs. Sorenson’s Fourth Grade Curriculum Night will be held
on Tuesday, September 10th from 6:00-7:00. Please contact these teachers for more
information.
A reminder to all families that half-day Kindergarten
pick-up will be exiting the entrance each day between 12:00 and 12:15ish. We have high school students out in the back
of the building during this time each day.
For safety, we prefer the cars go back out the way they come in during
this time only.
Students have earned lots of pillar stickers this week. They are putting the backs of their stickers
(with their names on them) in a jar in the LS office. We will hold a drawing on September 20th
and announce the winners during the morning announcements at 8:00 to the entire
school. The five winners will have snack
time with Mrs. Baier during the following week.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Baier
